About

Photography arrived later in my life. It was something I discovered accidentally where I took a snap of a desert scene that turned out well enough to print and hang. After that, I decided to buy an introductory level camera and try my hand at chronicling my sabbatical in Wyoming and Montana with it. Again with no knowledge of what I was doing, I took a photo of horses at the Cody Rodeo that won an award. After that, I decided it was time to stop making accidents and learn how to purposefully take a photo.

Toward the end of my career as a game programmer, I began to work harder at making planned photos. I traveled for work quite a bit during this time period and brought a Fuji X100T with me on every trip. This inspired my love of architecture and travel photography. I was already a passionate landscape photographer—who doesn’t like standing in beautiful locations? As retirement approached, I did my first destination photography workshop where I was provided a Phase One XF and IQ4 digital back to use for the duration. Greenland is amazing no matter the camera, but having that image quality to capture the scenes made me a convert to their system.

Now my photographic education continues to expand into still life, project based narrative series, and wildlife photography. The more I learn, the more I want to try new genres as each new genre influences how I approach my existing photography practice.
